Fares from the Taitung⟺Green Island table on the Farnlin (Kaixuan) website. The red 'reservation price' applies when you book ahead. Child fares cover ages 3 to under 12, senior fares 65 and over, and disability fares one companion too; proof is checked, and without it you pay the adult fare. Under-3s travel free and pay only the insurance charge. Green Island residents have their own fare. Uranus and Green Island Star publish separate fares that do not follow this table. All fares in New Taiwan dollars (TWD).
Several private companies run passenger boats between Fugang Harbour, just north of Taitung city, and Nanliao Harbour on Green Island. The timetable on this page shows only the sailings that Farnlin Shipping, trading as Kaixuan, lists in the sailing calendar on its website. Uranus (Tsang Jai Shipping) and Green Island Star (Long Hung Shipping) run their own boats with their own fares, and you book those directly with them.
Kaixuan has no fixed daily timetable: it plans sailings date by date. In its November 2026 calendar most weekdays have one morning and one afternoon round trip. Mondays start earlier, the last Friday boat back to Taitung leaves later, some weekends and late-month days have a single round trip, and Saturday 28 November has three. Pick a date on the board above to see that day's times. The times posted at the Taitung and Green Island waiting rooms prevail.
Plans can change at short notice. In bad weather or rough seas, or when something goes wrong in the harbour or its channel, Kaixuan can cancel a whole day's sailings or move them to another harbour for a while, and it posts these notices on its website. If a sailing is cancelled, your ticket stays valid until boats run again, or you can ask for a full refund.
An adult one-way ticket is NT$660 at the list price or NT$560 if you book ahead, and a booked return is NT$1,120. Children aged 3 to under 12, people aged 65 and over, and Taiwanese disability card holders with one companion pay NT$280 one way when booked, on showing proof. Under-3s pay only a NT$100 insurance charge. Uranus charges NT$670 one way and NT$1,340 return for adults.
If you have a booking, buy your ticket and get a seat at Kaixuan's waiting room 50 minutes before departure; after that your seat is not held. Tickets are valid only for the sailing printed on them, and normal refunds cost 10% and must be made before departure where you bought the ticket. Mention cats or dogs, or a wheelchair space, when you book.
- Get to the pier in good time; some routes need a ticket bought in advance or stop check-in before departure.
- Check the operator's notices on the day — wind, swell, typhoons and the northeast monsoon can cancel or change sailings.
- How you pay differs by route; some accept transport cards, and concession fares can require proof of eligibility.
