Kaohsiung City Shipping's posted timetable (same every day, no printed validity dates)

Hours given elsewhere The Cijin District Office's transport page gives 05:45 to 22:10 with a boat every 20–30 minutes, which does not match the operator's posted timetable. This page follows the operator's own timetable; if in doubt, call Qianzhen Ferry Station on +886 7 841 3048.

Pier notices take precedence The operator's page says notices at the piers take precedence over the website. Its FAQ describes roughly one boat every 30 minutes at peak times and one an hour off-peak, and refers passengers to the timetable.

The operator gives no end date for the discount. Children under 6 or under 115 cm ride free. Large heavy motorcycles (red and yellow plates) pay NT$100 including one rider, cash only. School and other groups pay one adult fare for every three young children. Registered Cijin residents ride free with their own Cijin Card. All fares in New Taiwan dollars (TWD).

This short harbour crossing is run by Kaohsiung City Shipping Co., Ltd. It links Qianzhen Ferry Station on Linshui Road in Qianzhen District with Zhongzhou Ferry Station on Zhongzhou Lane in Cijin District. The company's fare table puts the crossing at about 5 to 10 minutes. The boats take foot passengers, scooters and bicycles; for anything with three or more wheels, the operator's FAQ suggests driving through the cross-harbour tunnel instead. In its own description of the route, the company points visitors to Zhongzhou's old lanes, seafood and evening fish market.

The timetable linked from the operator's website lists 18 departures from each side and makes no distinction between weekdays and weekends. It carries no validity dates. The day starts with a boat from Zhongzhou early in the morning and ends with one from Qianzhen in the evening. The FAQ describes boats roughly every 30 minutes at busy times and about once an hour otherwise, and there is a longer break after midday, so check the timetable on this page before you set off. The Cijin District Office website quotes different hours; this page follows the operator's own timetable.

A single adult crossing costs NT$30, students pay NT$25 and concession fares are NT$15. Concessions cover children aged 6 to 12, people over 65, disability ID holders and one necessary companion, and you need to show proof; students show their card before paying. Under-6s and children under 115 cm ride free. A rider with a scooter pays NT$60 and a rider with a bicycle NT$40, while large heavy motorcycles pay NT$100 in cash only. The fare table shows the old NT$40 adult fare struck through, and the company has not said when the discount ends.

You can pay with coins, EasyCard, iPASS or icash 2.0, or scan a ride code in iPASS Money, Easy Wallet or icash Pay. Electric scooters must be switched off and folded, and are taken on board through the foot passengers' waiting room.

City buses 214A, Red 9A and Red 9B stop at Qianzhen Ferry Station, and there is a public bike docking station at Zhongzhou. Both piers answer on +886 7 841 3048.

  • Get to the pier in good time; some routes need a ticket bought in advance or stop check-in before departure.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — wind, swell, typhoons and the northeast monsoon can cancel or change sailings.
  • How you pay differs by route; some accept transport cards, and concession fares can require proof of eligibility.
