No fixed timetable: the operator lists set departures only early in the morning and after midnight, and gives average intervals, for reference only, for the rest of the day. · Representative sailings only — check the operator for today's full timetable
Weekdays: average intervals (operator's notice) 05:00–06:00 about every 30 minutes; 06:40–08:30 every 6–8 minutes; 08:30–09:50 every 8–12; 09:50–16:10 every 12–15; 16:10–20:00 every 8–12; 20:00–23:55 every 12–15; 23:55–02:00 about every 30 minutes. The notice lists no weekday sailings between 06:05 and 06:40.
Weekends and holidays (假日): average intervals 05:00–06:00 about every 30 minutes; 06:00–08:20 every 12–15 minutes; 08:20–12:20 every 8–12; 12:20–19:40 every 6–8; 19:40–21:00 every 8–12; 21:00–23:55 every 12–15; 23:55–02:00 about every 30 minutes.
Other official figures differ Kaohsiung City Shipping's FAQ says sailings are run flexibly: about every 5–7 minutes at rush hours, 10–15 minutes off-peak, about 30 minutes between midnight and 02:00, with extra boats at weekends when crowds build. The Cijin District Office website says 06:00 to 24:00, every 4–6 minutes. The three do not match, so this page does not turn any of them into departure times; go by what is posted at the pier, or call Cijin Ferry Station on +886 7 571 2542.
Scooter restriction on long holidays During public holidays of three days or more, tourists' petrol scooters may not board between 11:00 and 19:00 each day; Cijin residents, electric scooters, bicycles and people on official duty are exempt.

The sailing notice also lists NT$90 for a scooter carrying two people and NT$10 for a bicycle on its own, and the operator's FAQ describes the vehicle charges as NT$30 per scooter and NT$10 per bicycle on top of the passenger fare. Concession fares are for ages 6–12, over-65s, disability ID holders and one necessary companion, with proof; students must show ID before paying. Children under 6 or under 115 cm ride free, and groups pay one adult fare per three young children. Large heavy motorcycles (red/yellow plates) pay NT$100 including the rider, cash only. Staff do not give change, so bring coins. EasyCard, iPASS and icash 2.0 work at the gates, as do ride codes in iPASS Money, Easy Wallet and icash Pay. Registered Cijin residents ride free with their own Cijin Card through the residents' lane. All fares in New Taiwan dollars (TWD).
The ferry between Gushan and Cijin is run by Kaohsiung City Shipping Co., Ltd. It crosses from Gushan Ferry Station on Binhai 2nd Road, near Sizihwan, to Cijin Ferry Station on Haian Road in Cijin District. The company describes it both as everyday transport for Cijin's residents and as the way visitors reach the island's seafood restaurants and old streets. Its fare table gives the crossing as about 5 to 10 minutes.
Do not expect a printed timetable. The operator's notice lists set departures only at the very start and end of the service day: the first boat leaves Cijin at 05:00, and the last boats in both directions sail at 02:00 the next morning. Between those hours the notice gives average intervals, which differ between weekdays and weekends or holidays, and it says that currents, weather, ships in the harbour channel and mechanical problems can change things, so the times are only a guide. On weekdays it lists nothing between 06:05 and 06:40. The company's FAQ and the Cijin District Office quote different intervals again, so this page shows the official wording rather than working out departure times.
An adult foot passenger pays NT$30, students NT$25 and concessions NT$15, while children younger than 6 or shorter than 115 cm travel free. Taking a scooter costs NT$60 with its rider or NT$90 with two people on it, and a bicycle with its rider costs NT$40. Staff do not give change, so bring coins, or tap an EasyCard, iPASS or icash 2.0 card. The operator also lists the TPASS commuter pass and MeN Go time passes among its travel discounts.
If you are renting a scooter, note that on public holidays of three days or more, tourists' petrol scooters are not allowed on board from 11:00 to 19:00; electric scooters and bicycles are exempt. The operator lists Sizihwan MRT station and the Hamasen light rail stop as the rail links for Gushan Ferry Station. While the Gushan station building is being renovated, the operator asks callers to use +886 7 571 2542.
- Get to the pier in good time; some routes need a ticket bought in advance or stop check-in before departure.
- Check the operator's notices on the day — wind, swell, typhoons and the northeast monsoon can cancel or change sailings.
- How you pay differs by route; some accept transport cards, and concession fares can require proof of eligibility.
